What is the best car you will ever own? According to this ad it’s a 1997 Volvo V70. Fact!
At nearly 90,000 views, reaching over 50,000 within 4 days, this has become the most viewed ad in Adverts.ie history. It‘s been tweeted (343 times), shared (6401 times!), googled and has generated a response from around the World. I think it’s safe to say that this car, for sale for €500, has taken on a life of its own.
The seller, Rob O’Rourke, took his sales pitch to a whole new level when he asked us to pour ourselves a glass of whiskey, light up a cigar, sit back and listen to some “smooth jazz” while we read what this 15 year old car had to offer. Accompanying the ad are glammed-up photos of the less than glamorous, or even clean car. All of this combined to make magic that people couldn’t get enough of.
As for Rob, in the short 5 days that this car was available for sale on Adverts.ie Rob’s story featured in The Journal.ie, Joe.ie, The Irish Times, The Irish Independent, TV3, 2FM and more. According to Rob’s Facebook page, he was also contacted by the head of Volvo. He has even been offered jobs and has been proposed to!
Is this the best car you will ever own? Maybe not. But it is the one of the cleverest ads to be featured here on Adverts.ie.
And the best part about it, it worked! This car was listed as sold five days after it was placed.

We’ve changed our pricing structure when placing an ad for a car.
There has been a sharp increase in the number of car dealers advertising as private users on the site and we have been asked to take action to keep private users and car dealers separate.
We believe that private users will only place a car ad very seldomly in comparison to car dealers. For that reason, we have decided to change our fees to place a car ad so that all car ads are now paid for.
Here are our new car fees:
*All car ads allow users to enter their phone numbers.
A priority car ad stays on top of the listings for 4 days. A premium car ad stays on top of the listings for 7 days and displays a premium badge.

Clutter is evidence of many things: poor habits, lack of organization, sentimental attachment, too much stuff!
Would you swap your clutter for a bag of cash?
If your answer is yes, then follow the next steps and you could be rich by next week!
Step 1: Get organised.
Work one room at a time. Gather 3 boxes and label them ” Keep”, “throw away” and “sell/give away”.
Pick up each piece of clutter and choose a box. It might be a good idea to have someone helping you with the decision!
Step 2: Keep at it until you're done!
Moving clutter into a box takes a lot of energy and time. Often, clutter will be moved into boxes and the boxes will be left untouched in a corner of the room. Don't give up!
Put away the content of the "keep" box, throw away the unwanted clutter, and go through your "sell/give away" box to decide on what can be sold and what should be given away.
Step 3: Make some cash!
One Adverts user contacted us last week. He emptied his shed and put everything up on Adverts. Within a week he had made €350!
Take pictures of each item and sell them on Adverts, it's free!
Some tips before you start selling:
-Check the condition of the item you are selling (if it battery operated, does it still work?)
-Set a reasonnable asking price. Search for similar items selling on the site for help.
-For a quick sale, think about going for a premium ad (€5). Your ad will display a pemium badge and stay at the top of the listings for 48 hrs.
