Move your ad to the top with our new Bump button

March 30, 2010 |  by  |  Site changes  |  No Comments  |  Share

All ads on Adverts.ie are displayed by chronological order, which means that your ad will show at the top of the listings as you post it, and will slowly move down as other ads are being placed.

On some occasion, you may find that some items take longer to sell, or may have been overpriced, but by the time you drop your price, your ad is a long way down the list.

Our new bump button will allow you to bring your ad back to the top of the listings once every 14 days, whilst keeping all comments made on your original post.

Why should I bump my ad?

  1. It will move your ad to the top of the listings and revive interest.
  2. It will allow you to drop your asking price and give your ad a second chance.
  3. It will increase your chance of getting replies.

How do I bump my ad?

  1. Login and click on the “bump” button, at the bottom of your ad.
  2. A pop up window will display the number of days remaining before your free bump.
  3. If you’re in a hurry, you can pay €3 to bump your ad straight away.

If you have any questions, please contact us and we’ll be more than happy to help.

Handy tips for a quick sale

March 8, 2010 |  by  |  Tips  |  No Comments  |  Share

Posting an ad for sale on Adverts.ie is quick and easy, but spending a little more time working on it will increase your chances of a quick sale, and save you a lot of time.

Here are a few useful tips to enhance your ad:

  1. One item at a time – Take the time to post an ad for each item you want to sell. That way, your ads will be displayed in the correct categories, and no item will be missed out.
  2. Choose the right title – Add a brand, model, size, etc to make your ad stand out. For example, instead of fridge for sale, type Zanussi Electrolux fridge freezer.
  3. A good description will go a long way – Make sure to include all relevant details with your ad, this will minimize the number of questions on your thread and will speed up your sale. You can also add useful links, delivery and payment information.
  4. Photos are a must – Don’t expect a quick sale without any photo. A majority of buyers will only respond to ads showing pictures, so get snapping. You can add up to 6 photos on Adverts.ie
  5. Fair price - Make sure not to overprice your item. If you’re in doubt, check out similar items for sale on Adverts.ie.
  6. Check your spelling – Spelling mistakes can be fatal as your ad might not come up in specific searches on both Adverts.ie and Google.
  7. Add a link to your ad on Facebook - No need to have a Facebook account, you can post on our Facebook page :) ! Become a fan and post your ad here

Happy selling! :)

Adverts.ie just got a facelift

March 1, 2010 |  by  |  Site changes  |  5 Comments  |  Share

More news!  If you are reading this you will probably have seen that we have made a few changes to give Adverts.ie a cleaner, fresher look.  So now it still looks a bit like its older brother – only much, much better looking ;)

So what’s changed?

Our homepage

We’ve done a bit of tidying up. Now all For Sale categories are displayed on top of our homepage. Registration and Ad placement are clearly marked on the top right corner of the page.

More options when searching the site

Searching for items and members on Adverts has just got easier thanks to the More options button. It is now possible to search by county, comment, date, and even price!

We hope this new feature will facilitate your search and we’re looking forward to your feedback.

New sub-categories

Our categories were getting a bit swamped and we felt it was time for some serious spring cleaning. We’ve renamed some categories and, most importantly, we’ve added sub-categories, making it easier for you to find or post an ad.

Moving all current ads to new sub-categories is a work in progress! Please bear with us while we’re making the appropriate changes and don’t hesitate to click on the report ad button if you feel your ad is not advertised in the proper category.

Crazy / Random stuff

While moving ads from main categories to sub categories, we came across a few items that we simply couldn’t categorize!

We’ve therefore added a new category called Crazy/random stuff, it’s quite entertaining to go through, and if you can’t find a category suitable for your item, it probably belongs there!

We’re looking forward to your feedback and comments,

That’s all for now!

Claire

PS – Anyone feeling nostalgic – here is the old us :)
